our message is simple:
Employing people with disabilities makes good business sense. We are realizing our message through marketing, research, education, outreach and by example. We want to partner with other Maine employers interested in leading by example and shaping the future of our workforce.
why become involved?
Involvement means an opportunity to provide solutions that are beneficial to your business. It also means affiliation with a cause that receives a great deal of media attention, both locally and nationally, as well as recognition by the state.Employing people with disabilities is rapidly becoming part of our business landscape. Our workforce is aging, injured veterans are returning from Iraq, and we are experiencing the beginning of an employee shortage. Integrating people with disabilities into our workforce provides solutions on many levels. Getting involved now exemplifies forward and creative thinking plus good business strategy.
- Association with this project provides excellent marketing potential:
- Consumers consistently prefer businesses that are socially responsible.
- One in five Americans has a disability; their collective income is $1 trillion.
- People with disabilities can do the job; employers that have hired people with disabilities report reduced employee turnover and increased employee loyalty.
- Expanding diversity in the workforce promotes creativity, tolerance and a harmonious work environment: all key components to a successful business.
